The Partnership Missions Department is always eager to help KBC churches and associations get connected with overseas missions opportunities. Through our ALL THE WORLD structure we are able to provide a great number of projects, many of which are offered exclusively by our department. There are many other sources of IMB missionary projects, however, that missions leaders can utilize in their search.
The main one, of course, is the IMB’s website. Although recent changes have improved the ease of navigating the site, it can still be difficult to find what you’re looking for. I’ve had to walk several people through the process. So, I thought I’d give specific instructions here for those who would like to see what’s out there for their church.
Searching for a project on the IMB website
- Going to http://www.imb.org/ will take you to the IMB home page
- At the top of the home page click the “GO” tab
- On the column on the left of the next page click on the “Volunteer” tab under “Ways You Can Serve”
- On the column to the left of the next page click on “Search Projects”
- On the next page you will see boxes where you can refine your serach by indicating your preference of type of project, location, and dates you are looking for, or by keyword search. If you happen to know the IMB project number for a specific project, you can enter that number here. If you scroll down to the bottom there is also a world map divided into regions. You can click on a preferred area and it will take you to a list of projects in that area.
- When you see a project that looks interesting, click on the project title and that will open up a more detailed description of the project
Other websites you can search
Most of the regions under the old IMB structure list projects on their website. Since IMB is under a new structure the sites most likely will change to conform, but at this time here are the ones that I am aware of:
- South American Mission (SAM) Region – http://www.samregion.com. Like the IMB site, click on “GO” on the home page
- Middle America and Caribbean (MAC) Region – http://www.macregion.org/ – Click on “Volunteers” on the home page
- Pacific Rim (PACRim) Region – http://www.go2pacrim.org and http://www.takeit2therim.info
- Tokyo, Japan – http://www.imbtokyo.org/- Click on “Do Missions”
- Japan’s Cities, Towns and Villages – http://www.outreachjapan.org – Click on ‘Contact Us’ and fill out the form
As I stated before, we are here to help you get connected, but making your own contact also works. When you do make your own connection, please contact us and let us know so we can track all KBC churches involved in overseas missions.
