Kentucky Baptists on mission on their knees

Kentucky Baptists have been on mission with God for many years through partnership missions. The places and people change, but the need for prayer continues. The mission efforts of Kentucky Baptists on the field, from short-term volunteer to career missionaries, need a prayer support system. That’s why ten years ago the Partnership Missions Department developed the “Operation Bended Knee” (OBK) prayer ministry.

OBK is an internet based prayer network operated by the Partnership Missions Department’s State Prayer Coordinator, Nancy R. Walden. Nancy and her team of regional prayer leaders are responsible for receiving prayer requests from the field and periodically sending them out by email to registered prayer partners.

I salute the faithful prayer partners who have supported partnership missions for these past ten years in such an important and mighty way. As a missionary on the field, I have seen the evidence of their prayers as God worked through the volunteers who participated in KBC mission trips that came to my field of service.

Many are faithful in daily missions praying guided by OBK, however, many more prayer warriors are needed. You too can be a vital part of partnership missions through prayer. You can be on mission with God as you pray for the needs of each country and its people, the missionaries, the volunteer teams, field coordinators, and the staff of the Partnership Missions Department.

Currently Operation Bended Knee is also in need of a Regional Prayer Coordinator for the South Region. Below is a brief job description if you or someone you know might be interested in fulfilling this ministry need.

Regional Prayer Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Receive prayer requests by e-mail from our state prayer coordinators, Bob and Nancy Walden
  • Enlist prayer partners within your region and location (a list of churches and addresses can be sent to you)
  • Forward requests by e-mail
  • Forward praise reports of answered prayer by e-mail
  • Meet with state prayer coordinators once a year at a chosen site with your mileage and expenses covered
